Here are some tips for effective air duct design:
Determine the room's cfm.
Determine the number and location of room supply outlets.
Select the location of the air-handling equipment.
Sketch a tentative single line duct layout.
Determine the effective length of the longest run.
Determine the design friction per 100 equivalent feet.
Size the duct from the farthest point back toward the air handler.
