Here are some tips for effective air duct design:
• Determine the room's cfm.
• Determine the number and location of room supply outlets.
• Select the location of the air-handling equipment.
• Sketch a tentative single line duct layout.
• Determine the effective length of the longest run.
• Determine the design friction per 100 equivalent feet.
• Size the duct from the farthest point back toward the air handler.
