HVAC & Refrigeration Tech Tips

Know the right lubricant to use

Most compressors require a lubricant to protect internal moving parts. The manufacturer usually recommends the type of lubricant and proper viscosity that should be used to ensure acceptable operation and equipment durability.

Recommendations can be based on lubricity, lubricant/refrigerant solubility, lubricant/refrigerant miscibility, compatibility with materials of construction, and thermal stability and compatibility with other lubricants.
