Here are a few industry-related words and their definitions that you should know:

Ebullator: A device inserted in flooded evaporator tubes to prevent the evaporator from becoming oil bound.

Turn down: Operating equipment under less than full load; equipment will good turn-down characteristics can be operated efficiently at less than full load.

Colloids: Miniature cells peculiar to meats, fish and poultry, which when disrupted cause food to become rancid. Low temperature minimizes this action.

Unloader: A mechanical device used to reduce the capacity of a refrigeration compressor.

Heat load: Amount of heat to be removed from a space to be air conditioned or refrigerated to satisfy the requirements of the given installation.
