Open the scroll suction line service valve first

When installing a condensing unit with a scroll compressor, break the vacuum to the line set and indoor coil by opening the suction line service valve first.

If the liquid line service valve is opened first (while the line set and indoor coil are under a vacuum), oil from the compressor may be drawn into the outdoor coil TXV, blocking refrigerant flow through the TXV. On initial start-up, this oil restriction will cause the suction pressure and head pressure to below, and may take sometime to clear the oil through the TXV. This condition doesn't happen every time due to the number of scrolls that have been installed without problems. However, technicians should always open the suction line service valve first to ensure that an oil restriction can't happen.
