Flood-back during startup caused by many factors

Possible causes of refrigerant flood-back during compressor startup are:

•  Oversized valve.

•  TEV seat leak (off cycle).

•  Low superheat adjustment.

•  Wrong thermostatic charge.

•  Bulb installation.

•  Poor thermal contact.

•  Warm location.

•  Compressor discharge valve leak.

•  Solenoid valve seat leak.

•  Compressor in cold location.

•  Suction line in cold location.

•  Evaporator free draining to compressor.

•  Interrupted pump down.

•  Restricted or plugged external equalizer.
