Ice machine compressor efficiency
Question: Some ice machines do not have isolating valves and receivers for pump down and isolating purposes. Checking compressor efficiency is impossible without servicing valves. Are there any reasons why?
-John Leong, Edmonton, AB
Answer: Generally speaking, judging the condition of compressor efficiency (compressor values) in ice machines is simplified by calculating the amount of ice a machine produces in a 24-hour period. You must compare your findings to the manufacturer's ice production chart for the specific ambient air and water temperatures entering the machine.
