I threw on my gauges. The pressures did not move. The compressor had failed.
The only compressor available had sweat connections and I needed a compressor with roto-lock fittings. The two adapters on the top of the compressor solved this problem. I just had to silver solder them in.
I back seated the service valves and cracked the connections off the defective compressor. The manager of the store who helped me pull the scroll up the roof thought he would make things go a little faster by unthreading the suction roto-lock completely.... Oil discharged with the gas all over the condensing unit!
The rest of the job went well and started up with out a problem.
