Condenser Capacity formula
open drive comp = 1.25 x compressor capacity
hermetic comp = 1.30 x compressor capacity
Example: find the size of condenser required for refrigeration system with hermetic compressor having a capacity of 24000 Btu/hr.
1.30 x 24000 = 31200 Btu/h
Air Cooled Condensers
the affect of changes in refrigerant condenser condensing temperature
a 1 F change in subcooling will change system cap by 0.5%
a cooling 10 F change in ambient changes condenser capacity by 3%
Condenser Capacity Control (air cooled)
required to maintain proper pressure drop at the metering devise (75-100psi)(difference)
normally required if outdoor if outdoor ambient drops below 55 F
