Series Circuits
The Laws of Series Circuits
Where:
- E = Electro-Motive Forces in Volts
- I = Current in Amperes
- R= Resistance in Ohms
Voltage Law
- total voltage in a series circuit is equal to the sum of the voltage drops at the resistors
- ET = ER1 + ER2 + ER3
Current Law
- total current is a series circuit is equal throughout the series
- IT = IR1 = IR2 = IR3
Resistance Law
- total resistance in a series circuit is equal to the sum of the resistance of the resistors
