Ohms Law

Ohms Law

Resistance:

    • opposition offered by a material to the flow of current

Ohm:

    • basic unit of resistance measure equal to that resistance which allow 1 Amp of current to flow when EMF of 1 volt is applied across the resistance

Ohm’s law States:

    • with constant resistance, lower voltage gives small current, high voltage gives larger current
    • constant EMF, lower resistance passes large current, higher resistance passes small current
    • the current flowing in a circuit is directly proportional to the voltage (EMF) and inversely proportional to resistance

I = E/R

E = I x R

R = E/I
